On Tuesday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m. we begin the study A Man Named Martin-Part Two: The Moment. This video-based study produced by Lutheran Hour Ministries examines the interplay of personalities and events that led to the Protestant Reformation, a theological overhaul set in motion most notably by Martin Luther’s nailing of the 95 Theses to the church door at Wittenberg.
From Luther’s inner struggles of conscience and faith to his call for debate with the Pope to his scathing rebuke of erroneous church practice, we will examine the widespread teachings and doctrines of the late Medieval Church that were not Scripturally grounded, and how Luther addressed them. Among them were purgatory, penance, indulgences, masses for the dead, and the institution of the papacy. A cast of scholars and professional church workers share their expertise on the cultural and religious setting in which Luther operated.
All are invited to join us each Tuesday morning at 9:00.
